Midwest Cryobank
Saturday, October 22nd, 2005Midwest Cryobank, a division of Midwest Sperm Bank, offers sperm banking services for pre-vasectomy and cancer patients as well as an anonymous sperm donor program.
In order to become a sperm donor at this Chicago-area sperm bank, applicants must complete an extensive questionnaire Medical history, family history, sexual history, hobbies, education, profession…expect to provide information on all those topics and more. A psychological profile will also be required.
As candidates move forward with the process of becoming a donor, they will make multiple trips to Midwest Cryobank to provide samples semen and other biological samples for evaluation. Each will be tested for genetic disorders, sexually transmitted diseases and substance abuse. The entire application process can take up to six weeks. Within the pool of candidates applying to be a Midwest Cryobank sperm donor, approximately 95% will be rejected.
The five percent of sperm donor applicants that are accepted will be required to make at least a six-month commitment to being a Midwest Cryobank donor. In addition, they must agree to make, at minimum, twenty-four sperm deposits. (One per week for 6 months.) Sperm donors are paid $75 for each viable sample collected. Samples are only deemed viable after showing no negative results during their six-month quarantine period.
