The Sperm Bank at the Fertility Testing Laboratory (FTL) has been in operation longer than any other facility of its kind in the Delaware Valley. The Sperm Bank offers the following services:
1. Sperm storage for patients who are about to have surgery or chemotherapy (the professional staff will make every accommodation to satisfy the needs of the patients, collection of sperm can be provided on short notice).
2. Sperm storage prior to vasectomy.
3. Cryopreservation of diagnostic testicular biopsies for future IVF/ICSI.
4. Storage of frozen donor sperm purchased from other facilities for artificial insemination.

Cryopreservation is a procedure by which sperm can be stored for a prolonged period through freezing at very low temperatures. Sperm may be stored for a number of reasons, including:
• Anticipated vasectomy (sterilization)
• Impending chemotherapy and/or radiation therapy
• Impending orchiectomy (removal of testes)
• Exposure to hazardous materials
• Epididymal/testicular aspirations
• Artificial insemination
Sperm can be cryopreserved indefinitely. In fact, the longest cryopreserved sample that resulted in a conception was stored for more than fifteen years.
