Established in 1979, Follas Labs, Inc. offers a number or reproduction-related products and services, including a sperm donation program. With offices throughout Indiana in Indianapolis, Fort Wayne, Kokomo, West Lafayette and Evansville, Follas Labs is able to recruit sperm donors from a number of nearby colleges and universities. Most donor candidates are enlisted by way of on-campus lectures and discreet advertisements in local newspapers.
In order to become a sperm donor for Follas Labs, you must fill out an application. The questionnaire includes a multi-generational medical history that must be completed to the best of your abilities. After you and your family history are scrutinized, it’ll be time for your sperm to go under the microscope. Specialist will be checking for mobility and resilience of your sperm to see if it will survive the freezing and banking process.
To protect the health of sperm recipients and any offspring resulting from the use of donor sperm, all sperm collected from you will be quarantined for six months before it can be used. If there are any genetic abnormalities, sexually transmitted diseases or other illnesses detected during any of your tests, you will be rejected from the Follas Labs sperm donor program. If all is clear, you will be approved to participate as in the Follas semen donation program.
As a donor, you will be expected to make regular sperm deposits for which compensation is provided as long as the samples are viable. You will also be subjected to semi-annual physicals and blood testing. You will also be compensated for your sperm donation. Follas is currently restructuring and plans to eventually shift its sperm donation program to Genome Resources ((317) 972-1214), also located in Indiana.
