The donor must between 18 and 37 years of age with 5′11” in height and already graduated or currently attending a 4 year college. They accept all ethnic backgrounds and offer cash bonuses for accepted referrals. There will be a phone interview whether you will be accepted or not. If you are accepted, you are requested to visit and fill up the complete questionnaires and asked about your family history. The questionnaire will be reviewed by the Laboratory’s Manager and Medical Director and the appointments will be arrange between Tuesday and Thursday. By two days apart semen donations will be test for the sperm count, motility and morphology of fresh samples and also the survival of the sperm in the post freeze. The medical director will be test the physical exam if the results of two samples are accepted. If it turns good, blood and semen samples will be required to perform a test which be available in about 7 to 10 days.

The donor should remain for a minimum of one year and report to the laboratory three times a week initially, then twice a week for the periodic blood testing and return for the final blood testing exactly after 6months after stop being a donor. The ventilation system is equipped with high technology carbon filters to eliminate all possible external contaminants that could damage in any way to the embryos.

The Victoria Fertility Center only banks sperm for individual and couples who intend to use the sperm for their own reproductive purposes. They do not bank the sperm for donation or for third-party donation to an infertile couple. The laboratory receives the sperm samples and there will be a various test that wil be performed to assess its quality. The test result include the volume and pH of the semen, the number of the sperm, the proportion of sperm moving and the quality of their movement, the percent of sperm with normal shape and evaluation of the abnormal shapes present. The Sperm Banking is not a a British Columbia MSP-covered service/ the service offered only in specialized laboratories in specialist fertility centres.
